Google Cloud Platform, is offering from Google. The platform includes a range of hosted services for compute, storage and application development that run on Google hardware.

Google Cloud Platform (GCP) offers dozens of IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS services. Google Cloud Platform offers services for compute, storage, networking, big data, machine learning and the internet of things (IoT), as well as cloud management, security and developer tools.

GCP at glance

GCP in market:

Using GCP in your infrastructure, will be come out with many advantages:

a.) you will be using same infrastructure which google use for their own services.

b.) GCP offer friendly pricing in compare to other cloud services offering.

    - Compute Engine instances billing done per minute, not hour

    - GCP offer discounts as well

c.) Private Global Fibre Network

    - Data moving between datacenters never leaves the private network

d.) Live Migrations of Virtual Machines

e.) Better performance

         Higher Speed

         Scalability

         Auto Scale

GCP worldwide presence

Google has worldwide presence of their datacenters. You may visit to below URL for their current regions and their upcoming future regions update:

 Regions & Zones

Google datacenters infrastructure has been distributed across geographical regions and zones. Google Cloud Platform services are available in locations across North America, South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. These locations are divided into regions and zones. You can choose where to locate your applications to meet your latency, availability and durability requirements.

Regions:

- Regions are independent geographic areas that consist of zones.

- Regions are the geographical location where you deploy your resources.

- Resources can be available to any zone in to the region.

- Google frequently expanding their infrastructure across the globe.

Zones:

A zone is a deployment area for Cloud Platform resources within a region.

- Zones should be considered a single failure domain within a region.

- In order to deploy fault-tolerant applications with high availability, you should deploy your applications across multiple zones in a region to help protect against unexpected failures.

 Google Network Infrastructure

Google have a backbone of global private network. You may visit below URL to understand more about their network infrastructure

Google network infrastructure from datacenters to end user are distributed in three elements:

- Core datacenters

- Points of Presence

- Edge Nodes

a.) Core datacenters: Google have their core datacenters across the globe which mainly distributed in regions and zones.

b.) Points of Presence:

- Google have their presence across the globe.

- Brings google traffic closer to users worldwide, thereby reducing a costs and providing users with a better experience

- Connects to a private meshed network backbone that connects Edge POPs to datacenters, and bridges to public internet.

c.) Edge Nodes:

- Provides a feasibility to access google infrastructure closest to end users.

- ISP deploy Google Supplied servers inside their own network
